How to setup main iPlum number to ring multiple phones or users?

iPlum provides three different approaches to receive main iPlum number calls to multiple users or devices.


The first two options allows each user to receive calls and make outgoing calls using main iPlum number as the caller ID from their own mobile phone as 2nd line. The third option simply forwards the incoming calls to external non-iPlum numbers.



1: Ring main number on multiple devices/users (Auto-Attendant/IVR)

Summary:

This option allows you to play a welcome greeting for incoming calls and route them to different phones as a 2nd Line. Each user’s outgoing Caller-ID can be configured to show main iPlum phone number.

You will setup a master account with main iPlum number and add lines with local iPlum numbers for each user. Users will install iPlum app on their devices and login with their distinct login IDs. Auto-Attendant/IVR is free with any iPlum plan. Using this approach when a caller dials your main iPlum number they will hear your welcome greeting. They will be presented with options to dial extensions. One extension can ring multiple devices. All users can make & receive calls simultaneously.

Steps:

  • Login https://my.iplum.com .

  • Get a new iPlum number or port-in your existing phone number into iPlum.

  • Add additional members : Click “Additional Line”. Create a sub-account login-id with physical mobile phone number or email. Landline or virtual numbers not allowed when creating sub-accounts.

  • The user will receive a link via phone text or email used to create their sub-account. Once the user clicks the link, it will require them to enter a new password. The user is now connected to the master account and you will see them in “Accounts” section.

  • In the Accounts section, select the additional line setup above, click “Get iPlum Number” to setup a new iPlum number for this additional line.

  • Change “Caller-ID Number” to show Main Account iPlum Number: Click Accounts || Select Sub-Account|| Profile & Permissions || Caller ID Number || Toggle to Main account iPlum number and Save it.

  • Click Auto-Attendant/IVR feature and enable it. Read Auto Attendant examples.

    • Type auto attendant greeting for text to life like speech.

    • Create extensions & link them to each iPlum phone number which you have setup in previous step or external phone numbers.

    • Add multiple users to an extension to ring Sequentially or Simultaneously.


2: Ring main number on multiple devices/users (No Auto-Attendant/IVR)

Summary:

This option sends the incoming calls directly to different phones as a 2nd Line. Each user’s outgoing Caller-ID can be configured to show main iPlum phone number. It doesn’t have a welcome greeting or extensions for incoming calls.

You will setup a master account with main iPlum number and additional lines with local iPlum numbers for each user. Users will install iPlum app on their devices and login with their distinct login IDs. All users can make & receive calls simultaneously.

You will setup Simple Call Forwarding in your main iPlum account to ring three (3) iPlum phone numbers. The incoming call would ring on all iPlum numbers and the receiver who picks up the call gets connected.

  • Login https://my.iplum.com .

  • Get a new iPlum main number or port-in your existing number into iPlum.

  • Add additional members : Click “Additional Line”. Create a sub-account login-id with physical mobile phone number or email. Landline or virtual numbers not allowed when creating sub-accounts.

3: Simple Call Forwarding to non-iPlum external phone numbers

Summary:

This option can be used when you don’t need separate 2nd line on end user devices. The incoming calls are forwarded to user personal numbers.

You can setup Call Forwarding in your iPlum account to ring three (3) external phone numbers. These numbers can be domestic or international. The incoming call would ring on all numbers and the receiver who first picks the call gets connected.

Steps:

  • Login https://my.iplum.com .

  • Setup Simple Call Forwarding from main iPlum number to external numbers. You can add your iPlum number as one of them.

  • You can choose to Display Incoming Caller ID to be “Actual Calling Number” or “iPlum Number”.
