How to setup main iPlum number to ring multiple phones or users with extensions?

iPlum provides three ways to ring Main number to Multiple users:






Option-1: Virtual Phone System with Multiple Users

Summary: With this approach the caller will hear professional greetings when they dial your main number. They will be presented with option to dial an extension. Each receiving user can make & receive call simultaneously. Each user Caller-ID can be configured to show main iPlum phone number.

With this approach you can setup a main iPlum number and additional sub-accounts with separate iPlum numbers for each user. Users will install iPlum app on their device as second line and receive iPlum calls with distinct ringtone and visual screen.

Steps:

  • Login https://my.iplum.com .

  • Get a new iPlum main number or port-in your existing number into iPlum.

  • To add additional members (iPlum users), use “Multiple Accounts” feature.

  • Then give each new account their own iPlum number with measured or unlimited plan.

  • For each user set their “Caller-ID Number” to use Main Account iPlum Number. Configure in Accounts >> Actions >> Profile

  • Click Auto Attendant feature to enable it. Check Setup Examples.

    • Type auto attendant greetings for text to life like speech.

    • Create extensions & link them to each iPlum phone number you have setup in previous step or existing external phone numbers. You can add multiple users to one extension to ring sequentially or simultaneously.





Option-2: Simple Call Forwarding with Separate 2nd Line for Users on their Mobile

Summary: With this approach you can setup Call Forwarding in your iPlum account to ring three (3) iPlum phone numbers. The incoming call would ring on all iPlum numbers and the receiver who picks up the call gets connected. Each user will have a separate line on their phone. When a user dials out, their Caller-ID will show the main phone number.

Since each user is using iPlum numbers to receive calls, the user can distinguish between calls coming for iPlum number vs. personal calls.

Steps:

  • Login https://my.iplum.com .

  • Get a new iPlum main number or port-in your existing number into iPlum.

  • To add additional members (iPlum users), use “Multiple Accounts” feature.

  • Give each new account their own iPlum number with measured or unlimited plan.

  • For each user set their “Caller-ID Number” to use Main Account iPlum Number. Configure in Accounts >> Actions >> Profile

  • Setup Call Forwarding from main iPlum account to iPlum additional accounts.





Option-3: Simple Call Forwarding to non-iPlum External Phone Numbers

Summary: This approach has lowest cost and requires only one iPlum account.

With this approach you can setup Call Forwarding in your iPlum account to ring three (3) external phone numbers. These numbers can be domestic or international. The incoming call would ring on all numbers and the receiver who picks up the call gets connected.

Keep in mind that if you are using external numbers for Call forwarding, the receiver won’t be able to distinguish between calls coming for iPlum number or their native phone number.

Steps:

  • Open an iPlum account with a new iPlum number or port-in your existing number.

  • Setup Call Forwarding from main iPlum account to external numbers.

  • You can choose to Display Caller ID as either “Origination Number” or “iPlum Number”.
